Srushti Deshmukh began preparations for the UPSC exam in her third year of engineering degree. In her final year in engineering, Srushti Deshmukh questioned if she would enjoy working in engineering. It was later discovered that her dream job was within the civil service, and she started to focus on it. Her parents encouraged her to go into civil service, and to pursue an employment in the public sector. Her motivation was to be an IAS officer and was committed towards that aim. It takes more effort to be successful at UPSC. She also prepared for UPSC exams while doing her engineering studies. Each day she allocated the time to study for exams. She completed her engineering examinations in only one-and-ahalf months. She stayed out of social situations. Her focus is crucial to be able to pass the exam to get a government job, and work within the civil service. Her efforts were arduous to attain her aim of passing the exam at the first attempt. In order to stay up-to-date on the latest news, she used to regularly browse through the news papers. Rajya Sabha TV, online resources and other study tools proved to be a great help for her.
